Key Holder, Cirencester
Salary: National Minimum Wage/£11.55 per hour
Reporting into: Store Manager
Contracted Hours: 16 hours per week (with the ability to flex up if productivity allows)

We are recruiting for a Key Holder to join our Cirencester team. You will be joining a friendly, welcoming but hard-working team. We put all pet’s health and well-being first. All our teams receive extensive training from Hannah Molloy of Channel 4’s Puppy School, through our video training platform Myagi, to give our customers and their pets the very best and most up to date advice.
With 25 stores, open 7 days a week, for all your pets needs from with raw feeding and natural deli treats to hay and rabbit food.

Job Duties:
1. Opening and Closing Responsibilities: You will be responsible for opening and/or closing the store. This involves tasks such as unlocking or locking doors, activating or deactivating alarms, and ensuring the premises are secure before leaving.
2. Sales: Responsible for promoting and selling products such as pet food, accessories, toys, and grooming supplies. This involves actively engaging with customers, upselling or cross-selling products, and processing transactions.
3. Customer Service/Assistance: Helping customers find products suitable for their pets, offering advice on pet care, nutrition, and health. This could also involve handling complaints.
4. Stock Management: Ensuring that shelves are well-stocked, neatly organised, and products are correctly priced. This may involve restocking shelves, receiving deliveries, and booking in deliveries.
5. Pet Care: Assisting customers with questions about pet care, including advice on at home grooming, basic training, and general well-being of pets.
6. Store Maintenance: Keeping the store clean, tidy, and presentable. This includes tasks like sweeping floors, dusting shelves, and maintaining a welcoming environment for customers and their pets.
7. Knowledge of Products: Staying informed through Myagi and self-motivated learning, such as product suppliers and Pet Industry publications, about the latest products, pet trends, and industry developments to provide accurate information and recommendations to customers.
8. Promotions and Events: Wholeheartedly participating in promotional events, sales campaigns, and pet-related activities to attract customers and increase sales.
Required Skills:
1. Reliability: Dependability and trustworthiness to fulfil opening and closing responsibilities, and handle cash securely.
2. Customer Service: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are essential for assisting customers effectively and providing exceptional service.
3. Sales Skills: Ability to persuade and influence customers, upsell or cross-sell products, and meet sales targets through effective communication and product knowledge.

Store Manager Designate - Evesham & Cotswold Area
We are looking for a talented Retail Manager to join us as a Store Manager Designate, covering the Evesham & Cotswolds area (Candidates must be able to reliably travel to Evesham, Cirencester, Bourton on the Water & Stow on the Wold).

Store Manager Designate
Duties:
- Oversee the daily operations of the store, including sales, customer service, presentation standards and inventory management in whatever store you are based in on a given day.
- Develop and implement strategies to achieve sales targets and increase profitability.
- Train and supervise store team, providing guidance and support to ensure excellent customer service, standards, and advice.
- Monitor inventory levels as needed to maintain optimal stock levels.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures, including cash handling, health and safety, and security protocols.
- Resolve customer complaints or issues in a timely and satisfactory manner.
- Collaborate with the marketing team to develop and implement promotional activities to drive sales.
Experience:
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in retail management, preferably in a similar industry.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to multitask and prioritise tasks effectively.
- Excellent time management skills to meet deadlines and manage store operations efficiently.

Store Manager, Maypole
Job Summary
The Store Manager holds overall responsibility for every aspect of running the store – managing and motivating the sales team, delivering sales, managing livestock, achieving KPI’s and providing outstanding customer service. You are also responsible for ensuring all process is followed correctly and that communication with Head Office is timely and appropriate. A key aspect of your role is to build and develop a strong team with succession potential by providing all necessary training. You report directly to the Head of Retail Operations.
Key Responsibilities:
Store Operations
Ensure that staff are at the store a minimum of 15 minutes before it is due to open and be ready to trade at the specified time
Ensure adherence to all health and safety and fire safety regulations daily
Ensure all staff are present and ready for work on time in the correct uniform – as per company policy
The working day does not end until the store is in a presentable condition for the next day’s trading, the tills are cashed up and all end of day procedures are complete
It is your responsibility to ensure all back of house areas – including storeroom, office, kitchen, toilet, livestock, and isolation holding rooms are clean and well-presented throughout the day
You are expected to communicate information on competitors, new products and opportunities with your team and the wider business
Staffing, staff training and motivation
You are responsible for organising the staffing in your store and that there is always appropriate cover. You will need to deliver correct staffing levels in line with your budget
You will need to carry out appraisals and reviews with all staff members and monitor their progress on a regular basis
You may need to deal with any staff grievances that arise and escalate these to The Head of Operations or HR if appropriate
You are required to interview and recruit staff, to induct them effectively, and manage their performance and development with on-going training and reviews
You are responsible for ensuring that the payroll element of your rota is completely up to date; this includes sickness, holiday, and lieu time
You are responsible for ensuring that new joiners and leavers are updated with payroll
You must always maintain discipline with the staff this includes:
o Time keeping
o Appearance
o Duties and tasks
o Taking appropriate disciplinary action
Customer service
Ensure that all customers are acknowledged by a staff member when they enter the store
Ensure that all customers are engaged with a friendly open-ended approach within a reasonable amount of time or when displaying buying signals
Deal with customer complaints in a professional manner and resolve where possible without escalation
Deliver outstanding customer service by promoting a pro-active, helpful, and friendly attitude among the staff
Ensure that sales staff do not eat, chew gum, or use personal mobile phones on the shop floor or have wallets of purses on their person
Ensure staff do not smoke in the vicinity of the store or in sight of customers
You are always expected to lead by example.
Merchandising & standardsYou are always required to maintain excellent standards of presentation and cleanliness in the shop, in line with the store layout sheet. Delegating these jobs to your team is one of your key duties
Ensure the store is merchandised in accordance with planograms and merchandising guidelines. Stock is not to be moved outside of plan unless specifically approved by your line manager
Stock on the shelves should be replenished, dusted, and tidied throughout the day
If the stock levels look incorrect after stock checks, you should report any under or overstock to merchandising team
Shelf label prices must be checked daily. All windows, displays and cabinets must be maintained daily and all items must have correct POS and be priced
You have overall responsibility for the livestock in your store. Ensure all livestock is managed and cared for in line with our animal welfare policy
Security
Always maintain a high-level of security awareness – and ensure staff are vigilant
Always ensure the team adhere to company loss prevention procedures
Administration
All required paperwork and administrative tasks must be completed on time as per company guidelines – you should delegate and check these tasks where possible
Variances and banking issues must be dealt with as per company guidelines
The store notice board must be updated daily with relevant information
You must ensure thorough preparation for stocktakes and that procedure is adhered to rigorously at every stage.
Overall responsibility for store stock is yours. You should be aware of all stock movements that happen in and out of the store. You should immediately investigate any stock movements that look suspicious
Attend meetings and contribute to planning and the implementation of new strategies.
Health and Safety
Health and safety guidelines are there for your own protection and for the safety of your staff and customers. It must always therefore be adhered to, in line with the Health and safety manual.
All staff should be correctly inducted and made aware of the company’s Health and Safety procedures
You must ensure all colleagues and customers adhere to these procedures
Personal Development
You may be asked to manage different stores to aid your own personal development
Training will be provided for you from time to time which you will be expected to attend
You are required to identify and work on your own training needs
Flexibility
In order to maintain the smooth running of the shop at all times, a degree of flexibility is required in the role. As store manager you may be required to perform work not specifically referred to above and work unusual hours.
